1. Project Background

1.1 Ghana Pharmaceutical Enterprise Infrastructure Construction Project

The owner of this project is a local pharmaceutical enterprise in Ghana, which belongs to the complete factory infrastructure project.

The overall project includes the main building of the factory, the office building, and the construction of a large area of internal roads in the park. The whole construction site is not concentrated in the same area, but is divided into multiple independent operation areas.

As the project progresses, different regions will take turns to enter the concrete pouring stage. This means that the demand point  for concrete will constantly change.

In addition to producing a sufficient amount of concrete, the concrete production equipment used for this project also needs to adapt to the changing construction conditions of the site.

 2. Project Requirements and YHZM35 Applications

2.1 More flexible concrete production methods are needed in distributed construction areas.

The main body of the factory, the office building, and the park road, the operation locations of the three are separated from each other. At different stages of the project, the area requiring concrete pouring changes dynamically.

If the mixing equipment is fixed in a corner of the construction site, the produced concrete will have to be transported to various operation areas by concrete mixer trucks over long distances. Long-distance transportation not only increases the dispatching pressure of concrete mixer trucks, but concrete will also experience  slump loss during transportation.

The customer hopes to have a set of concrete production equipment that can adjust the installation position according to the construction rhythm, produce concrete nearby, and reduce all kinds of problems caused by long-distance transportation.

After sorting out the objective conditions of the site, EPDAS recommends customers to use the YHZM35 drum mobile concrete plant. It has an integrated design, and the mixing host, the batching warehouse, the conveyor belt and the whole set of control system are integrated on the same unit.

2.2 Frequent transfer requirements reduce disassembly and re-debugging work

In this project, the mixing station will not stay at the same point from beginning to end. The construction of factories, office buildings and roads has priority, and the concrete production points also need to be adjusted according to the focus of construction.

When YHZM35 needs to change its operating position, the whole unit can be relocated, and there is no need to disassemble the whole set of equipment like a fixed station.

The requirements of the equipment for the on-site foundation have also been simplified, and there is no need to pour a thick special equipment foundation. The equipment can resume production faster and be put into the construction of the next area. For overseas engineering projects with relatively high overall construction period pressure, this characteristic can actually save on-site working hours.

2.3 The customer lacks experience in using equipment, and needs to reduce the difficulty of on-site debugging and operation.

On the project owner’s side, the team rarely came into contact with a complete set of concrete mixing equipment before. After the equipment arrives at the construction site in Ghana, whether it can be quickly commissioned and put into production is a realistic factor that needs to be carefully considered in the selection stage.

YHZM35 has completed the assembly and debugging of the whole machine before leaving the factory. The control cabinet and internal lines are arranged in an integrated manner. A large number of wiring and parts assembly work will be completed in the domestic factory, and there are not many installation and wiring tasks left to the on-site personnel.

The equipment provides two sets of manual and automatic control modes at the same time. It is equipped with a computer control system and wireless remote control function. At the project site, customers do not need to assemble the whole machine from scratch, nor do they need to complete the complex control system configuration by themselves. The process of on-site debugging has been simplified  significantly.

2.4 Matching of low output height and subsequent concrete pumping equipment

In addition to producing concrete on site, the construction site also needs to transport concrete to various operation sites on the construction site. After the mixing station produces concrete, it should be smoothly connected with the rear-end conveying equipment to form a coherent operation chain. YHZM35 is designed with a low discharge height, and the discharge port can be directly connected to the DHBT40 Concrete Pump.

The on-site operation process is clearly divided. YHZM35 is responsible for completing the concrete mixing production on the spot,  while DHBT40 receives the concrete and pumps it to each pouring point.

3. Main Technical Parameters of YHZM35

The following are the equipment parameters directly related to the Ghanaian medical infrastructure project:

  • Theoretical production capacity: 35 m³/h
  • Stirring host: JZM750 drum mixer
  • Batching Machine: PLD1200
  • Aggregate conveying: belt conveyor
  • Maximum aggregate particle size: 60/80 mm
  • Discharge height: 1.3 m
  • Accuracy of aggregate weighing: ±2%
  • Cement weighing accuracy: ±1%
  • Weighing accuracy of water and admixture: ±1%
  • Total weight of equipment: 13 t
  • Total installed power: 46 kW
  • Control System: Computer Control System

4. Factory Inspection and Packaging of Equipment

4.1 Inspection of the whole machine before leaving the factory

The staff checks the core mechanical parts one by one, and the mixing system, batching system, belt conveyor and the whole control system need to be tested on the machine. Confirm that the whole machine has completed the factory  commissioning, and all functions can operate normally. After all the inspections are completed and the equipment status meets the conditions for ocean export transportation, it will enter the packaging process.

4.2 Protection of key parts

Electrical control cabinets and all kinds of precision electrical components are easily damaged during shipping. For this part of the component, protective treatment is carried out separately, including moisture-proof wrapping and additional cushioning to resist the collision impact during sea transportation and land transportation.

4.3 Loading and fixing

Based on the shape and center of gravity of the whole machine of YHZM35, plan the placement position in the container. After the equipment is in place, the tying and fixing should be completed to avoid the risk of displacement and bumping of the equipment during ocean transportation.

Project Summary

The ability of YHZM35 to adapt to this Ghana project is not only due to the product label of “mobile mixing station”. In the early stage of the plan, EPDAS comprehensively analyzed the distributed layout of the construction site, the reality that the equipment needs to be moved many times, and the lack of experience in equipment operation by the owner team. From the equipment structure, on-site deployment mode, to the operation connection with the downstream pumping equipment, the whole scheme is matched to the real working conditions, so that this set of equipment can play the corresponding value in the project.
